7th, 2006 Michigan Survives Refines the Skills and Strategies
for a Winning Career Search Including Moving Beyond
the Crisis!
Unemployment Update:
Well, Michigan’s unemployment numbers rose to
7.2 percent in April, while the national unemployment
rate was 4.7 percent. Many say this may get worse before
it gets better, but we can help each other weather this
storm!
On March 1, a new organization,
miSURVIVES.org, was launched, and we need your help
as we grow. Michigan
Survives is a professional support and educational group
designed to provide effective networking, key topical
information and emotional support and motivation for
those in transition.
On April 5, 2006, we spearheaded
a new era in professional collaboration with 5 key industry
networking groups focused on FINDING SOLUTIONS to the
current career dilemma. The 5 industry groups were:
- Engineering & Manufacturing
- IT
- Life Sciences & R&D
- Sales & Marketing
- HR, Finance & Legal
This 3-part series is tackling
this problem as follows:
- April 5 Defining
the fight: What and where are the opportunities?
(Download
the notes here in pdf if you could not attend.)
- May 3 Developing
the winning game plan: Devising the winning
career plan, personal plan and industry approach.
(Download the presentation here if you could not attend.)
- June 7 Action refinement:
What works, hasn’t worked, and how can we get
better individually and by industry. We will close
out the series and have small group workshops on refining
the functional skills you’ve requested!
EVERYONE IS WELCOME!
There is no cost to attend.
Facilitator:
Kevin Finn, Director of Career Services, Lawrence Technological
University
